Alex & James – The Boathouse, Ormesby

Starting right from I first met Alex and James back in June 2016 to chat about their special day, it’s been one that I’ve been looking forward to shooting. I had a taster of the awesomeness that was to come when we met up in October 2016 for their pre-wedding shoot at the lovely Whitlingham Country Park, and wow – their fantastic Wedding day didn’t disappoint!

With a September 2017 wedding planned for the lovely Boathouse in Ormesby, it can always be a little touch and go in terms of weather, but on the day the sun was shining and everything set for a beautiful outdoor ceremony on the decking.  With beautiful flowers from Darling Buds, a stunning cake by Sassas Cakes and plenty of fairy lights & hanging lanterns, the Boathouse looked stunning – and was the absolutely perfect backdrop for a perfect special day.

Starting the day catching up with Alex and her Bridesmaids getting ready at the Boathouse, in between the laughs and beautiful moments we even managed to squeeze in a sneak peek at the reception rooms for Alex to ensure everything was perfect.  In a first for me, we were also able to arrange a gorgeous first-look with Alex and her Dad out on the Boathouse’s jetty before heading off to the Waterside to board her wedding transport in the form of the Boathouse’s beautiful Gentleman Jim.

With the formalities taken care of with a fabulous outdoor ceremony in the sun accompanied by the beautiful tones of Lucinder Pennick’s harp (in an amazing coincidence – I photographed Cindy’s own wedding in 2015… at the Boathouse, with the same Registrar!), Alex & James made their escape amidst plenty of confetti back to Gentleman Jim to celebrate becoming Mr & Mrs in the quiet serenity of the Norfolk Broads.

Returning to the decking to be greeted by family and friends, we headed indoors for their Wedding Breakfast, speeches & partying!

Somewhere in the middle, we nipped back outside to capture those all-important couples shots of Alex and James, quite simply being Alex and James. I’m not much of a fan of posed wedding photos so we simply went for a stroll around the grounds, found some beautiful light and dived in!

Rounding everything off with a fabulous party & dancefloor antics inside & out, we squeezed in a few extra-special dusk & after-dark photos to celebrate the day.

Many, many congratulations once again to the fabulous Mr & Mrs Johnson and a huge thank you to the lovely Belinda and her team at the Boathouse for looking after us all so well on the day.
