Cley Windmill Norfolk Wedding – Nicola & Andy
A few weeks ago now I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Nicola & Andy’s wonderfully intimate family wedding over at the georgous Cley Windmill on the North Norfolk coast. This was my first time shooting at Cley and I can’t wait for several more return visits this year.
Traveling down from Nottingham, Nicola & Andy bought what can only be described as stunning weather with them – with beautifully clear and deep blue skies and amazing sunshine! The weather was nothing short of perfect – albeit a touch chilly, but that’s probably fair enough for late February!
If you’ve never visited Cley, it it a stunningly beautiful windmill set in the north Norfolk countryside with wonderfully eclectic details everywhere, an exceptional restaurant, unique hotel accommodation, lovely gardens and of course the incredible views across the marshes. In short, it’s an absolute gem of a venue and makes a beautiful backdrop for a relaxed yet distinctly intimate wedding.
It’s probably fair to say we shot a few photos of the windmill looking irresistible against the amazingly deep blue skies – and it was rather challenging to select only a handful of images for this post!
For what could be described as a wonderfully compact venue, the amount of georgous details, views & opportunities for photos is nothing short of staggering!
With the pre-ceremony formalities completed, guests settling in on the round Sitting Room’s comfortable sofas and someone keeping watch, Nicola & Andy headed across the courtyard to tie the knot in what was probably the most wonderfully intimate ceremony I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of.
Andy also deserves the highest possible amount of Man Points too for flawlessly delivering a carefully prepared & emotional reading mid-ceremony – which was the finest complement to the more formal parts.
After the ceremony, we quickly headed outside with the brand new Mr & Mrs Walker-Smith to make the most of those georgous views from the windmill’s rather breezy balcony. Couldn’t have hoped for better weather!
Leaving the gorgeous blue skies behind, we headed back inside to warm up – definitely helped by Cley’s legendary afternoon tea and a beautifully floral cake. Perfection!
