Jane & Andrew – Outdoor Cley Windmill Wedding
I’ve been lucky enough to visit the lovely Cley Windmill in North Norfolk a number of times now since my first visit back in February 2016 to photograph wonderful Norfolk Weddings, but this was my first outdoor ceremony at Cley – and we had an absolutely gorgeous and baking hot August summer day for it too!!
Cley is a beautifully quirky North Norfolk wedding venue which is perfect for a smaller intimate wedding if held indoors (their afternoon tea & cream cakes are also legendary!). Move outside however and you can add more people for the perfect eclectic celebration.
Jane and Andrew first met around 21 years ago in a rather more formal setting, with Jane interviewing him for a job and becoming his boss. Fast forward 16 years and after much water under the proverbial bridges, they met each other again over Facebook and eventually decided that August 2016 was the right time to properly tie the knot.
After an Ibiza holiday proposal, Jane and Andy fell in love with Cley Windmill’s wonderfully eclectic atmosphere and opted to have an outdoor ceremony in the gardens followed by a garden party held at Jane’s parents’ house, a short pony & cart ride away.
Here’s a taster of their beautifully relaxed (and exceptionally warm!) Norfolk Wedding.
With everyone ready and a rather nervous looking Andy waiting in the front row, Jane arrived looking absolutely stunning in her Cora by Willowby dress from La Creme in Norwich.
As is somewhat traditional at Cley Windmill, we were able to borrow the balcony to give Jane and Andy a few moments to relax and let saying “I Do” gently sink in…
Jane had arranged a little surprise for Andy in the form of a fantastic pony (Magic) and cart to transport them from the Mill to their garden reception in Wiveton. Admittedly, Andy did look a little surprised when Jane hopped in and took the reins, but soon seemed to settle in – both looking after Jane’s beautiful bouquet and becoming the perfect parasol holder!
Onto the reception – with a fantastic cake, BBQ by Graves Butchers, Photo Booth from Spotlight, Bouncy Castle and plenty of entertainment, the new Mr & Mrs danced the night away accompanied by their family & friends!
