South Norfolk is fairly rural, but dotted between the fields are loads of small wooded areas which can be perfect for beautiful outdoor family shoots. It’s also home to some lovely areas for short walks – such as the easily accessible maintained Dunston Common or perhaps Caistor St Edmunds or High Ash Farm (perfect for a family stroll!). If you head off towards the East, there’s another lovely woodland at Fritton (near Great Yarmouth) – which can be a cracking photo location – along with the simply beautiful Somerleyton Hall estate & gardens.
Norwich itself is an incredible city with limitless potential for photos from the characteristic and timeless city streets through to beautiful city centre open space – such as Chapelfield Gardens and the Castle Gardens.
It also has a number of urban parks & green spaces – with Eaton Park offering an excellent mix of options in terms of photos, Whitlingham Country Park with open meadow to lakeside and woodland walks, the University of East Anglia’s lake & grounds and of course other areas such as Mousehold Heath.
If in the city centre, the almost-hidden Plantation Garden is also something a little extra-special although a simple permit is needed for wedding photos. A little further afield there are also some beautiful historic woods such as Foxley Wood – which if caught at the right time of year can give an unbeatable woodland setting along with loads of bluebells.
All fantastic opportunities for photography without needing to travel far!
North Norfolk along with the Norfolk Coast has some of the most amazing and dramatic scenery for photography – especially the beaches at Cley next to the Sea, Blakeney, Winterton-on-sea, Sheringham, East Runton, Cromer, Old Hunstanton & Brancaster.
Basically, pick a coastal town with a beach and some beautiful photos can be achieved! Sea-side villages such as Blakeney can be beautiful locations for family or lifestyle photography with a wide open marshy background, and plenty of areas to walk around and explore.
They look stunning at any time of year – and are perfect even in the winter months with low golden sunlight… providing you wrap up warm to defeat the cold!
Away from the coast there are even more wonderful locations to discover – such as Sheringham Park, Holt’s woodland, Felbrigg Halland of course Blickling Hall with beautiful parkland and nearby woods; perfect in Autumn and gorgeous when the bluebells emerge!
Heading towards the North West, there is a simply beautiful beach for photos at Hunstanton – an amazing location which in the right light can look nothing short of stunning with everything from sandy dunes to beach huts!
Unmissable in West Norfolk is of course Thetford Forest. Well-established and managed woodland crammed full of wonderful pine forest.
With opportunities through the woodland from curated trails at Thetford High Lodge to untamed wood, established paths such as Peddars Way, and historic villages such as Castle Acre.
Also nearby is the simply perfect Lynford Arboretum – which is a wonderfully manicured woodland, packed with idyllic paths and tree cover; stunning for wedding or pre-wedding photos.
Heading towards the east reveals yet more great locations including the superb Bacton Woods, Happisburgh & Winterton beaches and if you keep going around the coast, you soon reach Southwold and Dunwich.
More wonderful locations for lifestyle and family shoots with opportunities to mix beautiful coastal walks with stunning beaches.
