BLACK & WHITE

Black & White. B&W. Mono. I fell in love with photography many years ago with my first experiences of shooting in Black & White on beautiful Ilford 35mm film; hand-developing those films in a dark room and then using the traditional tools of our photographic craft to hand-print those gloriously rich B&W images on incredible paper stocks; realising the very essence of an image through beautiful tones & shades. The world has obviously moved onwards, but there’s a certain timeless nature to B&W photos in this modern colour-rich age. For an image to properly work in B&W it’s got to be full of character & energy; highlighting a moment or capturing raw beauty in a form which stands alone when you strip away the colour, parring it back to its beautiful, elegant essence. Images need to speak to us; shouting their story from the rooftops.

I always set out to deliver a good selection of photos in B&W throughout every wedding day gallery, but have always avoided blanket-converting everything to black and white just to bump up the numbers. Scroll onwards for a selection of beautiful B&W’s from the last few years with plenty more to come!
